Using Care means these terms apply to you. They describe what Care does, what it does not do, and what is expected of you while you use it. If you do not want them to apply, do not use Care.
What Care is
Care keeps your family's health documents in one place and reads what is printed on them, so you can find a number or a medicine name without going through a folder of paper. It is a record keeper. It is not a medical service, not a clinician, and not a second opinion.
What Care does not do
Care never diagnoses, never advises and never tells you what a result means. Where a document printed its own verdict, Care shows that verdict as printed rather than forming one. Ask a clinician about anything you read here, and never change or decide treatment on the strength of this app alone.
Not for emergencies
Care is not a way to get help. If someone needs urgent care, contact your local emergency service.
Reading can be wrong
Values, dates and medicine names are read from your documents automatically, and automatic reading makes mistakes. Nothing read is treated as final. The original is always kept unchanged and every value can be traced back to the page it came from. Check anything that matters against the original before you act on it.
Your account
A Care account is for adults. You are responsible for what is done under yours. If you turn on the app lock, anyone whose face or fingerprint this phone already accepts can open Care, so turn it on only if that is you. An account is for an adult. Care is not for children to use, whoever the records are about.
Whose records you may add
Add records for yourself, or for someone you look after or who has asked you to. Do not add another person's records without a reason to be holding them. The records belong to the person they are about.
Your records stay yours
Your documents and everything read from them are yours. Care holds and reads them so the app can do its job, and does nothing else with them. You can open and send on any document at any time, and you can delete them at any time.
What belongs to Care
The app itself — how it is built and how it looks — stays Care's. Using the app does not hand any of that over, and it should not be copied or passed on as though it had been. This has nothing to do with your records, which are yours and stay yours.
What you may not do
Do not use Care to store things that are not health records. Do not attempt to break, overload or work around the app or the service behind it, and do not use it to hold records you have no business holding. If you do any of this, Care may stop your account. Where there is a choice, you will be told first and given time to take your records out. Where records are being held that have no business being held, that time may be short.
What stays free
Keeping your documents, opening them, and sending them on stay free and unlimited. If Care ever charges, it charges for work it performs, never for handing you your own records back. Not paying can reduce what Care will do for you. It never reduces what you can reach.
Care is still being built
This is a small product and it is early. Screens, features and limits will change. If Care ever has to stop, you will be told with enough warning to take your records out first.
Limits
Care is provided as it stands. It does not promise to be available at all times and it does not promise that every value it reads is correct. Care is not responsible for decisions made from what it shows. Nothing here takes away a right you have that cannot be signed away.
If part of this does not hold
If a sentence here turns out not to hold, the rest of it still does. If Care does not act on something straight away, that is not Care giving up the right to act on it later.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Every profile, document and value held under it is removed, and none of it can be brought back. Take a copy of anything you want to keep before you do it — every document can be opened and sent on from the app for exactly this reason.
If this changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, Care will say so in the app before the change takes effect. Carrying on using Care after that means the changed terms apply to you. If they do not suit you, you can delete your account, and you can take your records out first.
